Transforming the Gallery

October 21, 2009

Preparing for Amy Simon’s upcoming exhibition, a different STATE of mind, has proven to be an interesting (and messy) exercise.  Michael Buckland, preparator extraordinaire, has spent days building an entirely new freestanding wall in the middle of the gallery.  The 10 ft. wall creates a corridor that significantly alters the spatial experience of the gallery.  By dividing her show between our main space and the newly created corridor, Simon is cleverly informing the way in which the viewer will read and experience her work.
