Amy Simon: a different STATE of mind

October 21, 2009

After an exciting (and hectic) weekend, we are now looking forward to the opening of Amy Simon’s a different STATE of mind.  The opening – from 12-6 pm this Saturday – marks Amy’s first exhibition since she joined Andrea Meislin Gallery.  The works presented will be an adaptation of Simon’s current installation at the 53rd Venice Biennale in the International Exhibition, “Making Worlds” (curated by Daniel Birnbaum).  Amy’s work will appear in an array of media – photography, drawing, and wallpaper – that she sees as “interconnected”.  “Despite their different scale, the media are inspired by each other,” says Simon, whose work explores themes of memory, history, and belonging.  “[The exhibition] contemplates a universality in which [the viewers] can find something, either in themselves or in my work.”
